About Me

 

My name is Jamila Hammad and I am an artist living and working on the island of St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands.  The majesty of the living sea is a source of endless inspiration for my creativity.  Living here on St. Croix, I am ensconced by the turquoise Caribbean waters.  In such beautiful surroundings, creating art for me has become a meditation on the Spirit of the Sea.   

I use a combination of fabrics, paints, yarns, beads, sequins, and any interesting material that wants to contribute; my work celebrates the Spirit of the Sea, sometimes whimsical, sometimes mysterious and always expansive.
